Guest Bloggers: Alex and Suze
Alex and Suze created their first blog in March 2005 to talk about their sex lives, sexuality and explore their innate inquisitiveness about human sensuality. Since then a very personal, erotic and sexy blog has diversified and spawned the world renown sex toy review website; SexToysBuzz.
They now have 10 years of experience in the sensual world that has seen the couple create thousands of articles on sexuality, hundreds of sex toy reviews and publication in the mainstream media and adult industry press. This gives them unparalleled experience in the sex toy industry and the ability to share their knowledge about the testing and use of sex toys both as individuals and as a couple.
Alex and Suze will be mingling with the crowds at Sexhibition this summer but until then you can read their guides on buying and using sex toys right here on the Sexhibition website.
Vibrators
You’re all ready to buy your first vibrator, or try something new, there are hundreds of models to choose from, shapes, colours, features … more choice than ever before for a sexually adventurous modern girl. And that can be a problem because with so many vibrators out there buying your new buzzing buddy can be bewildering.
To make life a little simpler we have put together a brief guide to the different types of vibrator, what they are made from, the features to look for and what each type of vibe does.
Know yourself
When you buy any sex toy it’s because you want to derive sexual pleasure from it. To do that you should first ask yourself a very simple question – What do I like? Most girls have explored themselves and if you haven’t then you really should. Find out what feels nice to touch and that doesn’t just mean all that lovely feminine geography between your legs. Everyone’s body has its own little sweet spots, the neck, inner thighs, back of the knees and it’s a certainty that your nipples will enjoy your touch.
Now imagine what you can achieve with a vibrator.
Outside
As we’ve said, externally you have a number of areas that react to stimulation. Even a small bullet vibrator of the right type will have you quivering with pleasure within seconds. What you should realise is that different parts of your body will react in different ways depending on the frequency and strength of vibrations. Therefore you should pick a vibrator that has different settings in terms of speed and pattern of vibration, constant vibration isn’t always the most effective so try pulsing and escalating modes if your vibe has them.
Another top tip that applies both inside and outside the body is to start on a low setting and don’t go straight for the area you want to stimulate. Place the vibe on your skin and slide it towards your nipple, clitoris or whichever area you’re about to excite. That way you can stop easily if the stimulation gets too intense.
The quickest way to an orgasm for most women is via clitoral stimulation, you might be able to have several one after the other though you will find your clitoris becomes ultra-sensitive so despite being hungry for another high this might limit the number of times you can cum in succession.
Inside
Using a vibrator internally requires something more than a bullet vibrator. You could try vibrating eggs but don’t mix these up with large bullet vibes. All vibrators used internally will either have a shaft long enough to allow you to withdraw them or in the case of eggs a tail/loop so you can draw them out when you’re sated.
Don’t go too big too soon, most of the nerve endings in the vagina are around its opening so except for the feeling of being fully penetrated much of the stimulation takes place in the first few centimetres. The exception of course is the G Spot, a spongy pad of nerves around 5-8cm inside the front wall of the vagina. A specially designed G Spot vibrator will be shaped to massage this magical part of your anatomy, often incorporating a vibrating motor at this point on its shaft to give the most intense stimulation.
Whether you like a realistic looking vibe shaped like a penis or a vibe designed just to pleasure your anatomy there’s a vibe out there for you. And researching which one hits the spot is all part of the fun.
In and out
Of course there’s one type of vibrator that everyone knows about but we haven’t mentioned yet. The Rabbit Vibrator. Rabbits stimulate the clitoris externally with the little “Bunny Ears” that usually have a dedicated motor. Internally there is a huge variation between different designs each of which may incorporate one or more of these functions:
- Vibration – including various speeds and patterns
- Rotating beads – Some women enjoy the “internal massage” others say the rows of rotating beads don’t add to the experience
- Squirming – where the shaft wriggles within your vagina
- Thrusting – Just as it sounds!
- Reciprocating – Similar to the thrusting vibes but uses a weight and magnets inside the shaft to give the feeling of movement.
- Remote control – Allow you to operate the vibe without reaching between your legs … or hand over the remote to your partner.
Anal vibrators
If you’re feeling adventurous then remember that men and women can both enjoy anal stimulation. The first thing to point out is that you should only use a vibrator in your ass if it was designed to go there! The ring of muscles around your rectum is very strong and unless there is a way of stopping the vibrator being drawn inside, usually a wide base, you could end up losing your vibe unexpectedly. Followed by a trip to A & E.
You should also be aware that the lining of the bowel is not as strong as that of the vagina, nor does it have any natural lubrication. So take it steady and use lots of good quality water based lubricant. You’ll need to relax too, when you try and insert something up there the body’s reaction is to clench!
Both men and women can use the classic butt plug shaped anal vibrators and derive similar pleasures from the feeling of being anally penetrated. And there’s great news for guys because in addition you can enjoy prostate stimulation with an increasing number of P Spot stimulating vibrators that reach that intensely pleasurable place that only guys have.
Summary
If we have to give one piece of advice when choosing any vibrator we would suggest buying a product that has good reviews, mentioning quality of build, is free from Phthalates and doesn’t try to incorporate too many features. Getting the basics right is far more important in vibrator designs than ticking off a feature list.
Bear in mind that this is only the start of your exploration of vibrators as a means to pleasure. Experiment, have fun and don’t be afraid to explore your body with these increasingly sophisticated objects of pleasure.
